Coming Soon: Small Town Gothic 2e, One Big Book!

I’ve been talking about this on my twitter (which I had linked incorrectly on here for the longest time! come find me at @chiquitafajita_), but it would be cool to make a real announcement on Itch too.

I’ve been working on the second edition of Small Town Gothic, this time as a longform book! Right now it’s at ~30 pages, and it has three sections: (1) the rules of the game, (2) the demon compendium, (3) a town called Eden Springs.

Let me share some spreads with you! I hope you find them interesting.

The base system has the players roll 1d12 so that the referee can compare their result to a sort of THAC0 chart. I’ve streamlined combat to be just one roll instead of one stat check, and then rolling hit dice. But, I figure that’s the boring part to talk about.

As of right now, the demon compendium features d66 (36) ‘minor demons’, d12 ‘major demons’, d6 ‘lawful spells’, and d6 ‘chaotic spells’.

I’m still working on Eden Springs to figure out the most fun way to explore the scenario I’ve come up with. Usually I’m not into ~lore~ because it’s usually a self-indulgent exercise in inventing or memorizing trivia, but I want to make a situation for players to traverse the Christian pre-apocalypse and weigh the consequences of its happening. Not trying to make it like deep shit, but at the least I want to make it thoughtful.
